A rugged, whitewater river flowing northward through deep canyons, the New River is among the oldest rivers on the continent. New River Gorge National River in West Virginia encompasses over 70,000 acres of land along the New River, is rich in cultural and natural history, and offers an abundance of scenic and recreational opportunities.
In accordance with 41 CFR 102-74,405 and 310 DM 13, the use of alcoholic beverages in DOI occupied or controlled facilities is allowed only if a prior written exemption by the Secretary or his/her designee has been granted. The Director of the Office of Facilities and Administrative Services (OFAS) or his/her designee is the authorizing official for the Main and South Interior Buildings (MIB/SIB) in Washington, DC. The authorizing official in other locations is the respective Bureau/Office head or his/her designee.
Submitting a Request for MIB/SIB:
An alcohol waiver approval form (Authorization to Serve Alcoholic Beverages in the MIB/SIB Complex) must be completed and sent to the Administrative Services Division, Conference and Special Events Office, for processing. Completed request forms may be sent via inter-office mail to Mail Stop-1420; email; or fax to the individuals listed below. Please note that prior written approval is required and a copy of the approved waiver is needed by the requesting bureau or office official to bring alcohol into the MIB/SIB Buildings.
