AMERICA'S GREAT OUTDOORS: Secretary Salazar to Visit Mount Rainier National Park

Will Highlight Ongoing Efforts to Boost Tourism and Expand Outdoor Recreational Opportunities


LONGMIRE, WA – As part of President Obama's America's Great Outdoors initiative, on Tuesday, August 14, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar will visit Mount Rainier National Park and will meet with community and business leaders to discuss the importance of tourism and outdoor recreation on the local community. Following the meeting, Salazar will hold a brief media availability with credentialed media.

Mount Rainier National Park attracts nearly 1.2 million visitors each year. The National Park Service estimates that the Park contributes more than $35 million annually to the local economy and supports nearly 500 jobs.
