WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Tuesday, May 3rd, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar will join representatives from the scientific and conservation community to release the State of the Birds 2011 Report on Public Lands and Waters at a press conference in Kenilworth Park. This year's report focuses on the vital role our public lands and water play in the health and welfare of America's birds.
Prior to the press conference, Secretary Salazar will participate in a Bird Walk with students from Brent Elementary School. An area known to attract a variety of bird species, the wetlands and fields of Kenilworth Park provide visitors the opportunity to observe species such as: Belted Kingfishers, Great Blue Herons, Wood Ducks, Canada Geese, chickadees, titmice, and Carolina Wrens.
