On Thursday, June 7, 2007 Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne will have a full schedule of meetings with leaders of the U.S. Territory of Guam, military officials and private sector representatives during the first day of his official visit to the island. The events that are open to the news media on that day include the following:
At 11:00 a.m., the Secretary will visit the Chamorro Village Market with Gov. Felix Camacho and Lt. Gov. Michael Cruz to meet local citizens and have lunch.
At noon, Secretary Kempthorne will attend the Masters Baseball Championship at Paseo Stadium with Governor Camacho and Lt. Governor Cruz.
At 12:30 p.m., the Secretary will join Gov. Camacho, Lt. Gov. Cruz and other local and federal officials to honor those who died during the occupation and liberation of Guam. The wreath laying ceremony will be at the War in the Pacific National Historical Park.
At 6: 30 p.m., the Secretary will attend an evening reception and dinner at Government House, hosted by Gov. and First Lady Joann Camacho.
