Secretary Norton To Announce Penobscot River Milestone at Veazie Dam Ceremony

Secretary of the Interior Gale Norton will announce a major milestone in efforts to restore Maine's Penobscot River on Friday, June 25, joining Maine Gov. John Baldacci and other state, tribal, and nonprofit leaders at a ceremony on the river's banks below the Veazie Dam.

WHAT: Secretary Norton will announce a major milestone reached on the Penobscot River Restoration Project.
WHEN: Friday June 25, 2004, 12:15 p.m. Media availability immediately following brief ceremony.
WHERE:  Veazie, Maine, on the banks of the Penobscot River just below the Veazie Dam.

Directions from the South:
Take Interstate 95 north to Exit 187 (formerly 49), "Hogan Road". Follow Hogan road until you intersect with Route 2. Take a left. Look for School Street after you cross the Veazie town line, take a right. Take a right on Thompson Road and then take a left on to Old County Road. Take Old County Road to the park and Veazie Salmon Club.

Take 95 north and follow directions above.
