ASSISTANT SECRETARY SCARLETT WILL GIVE KEYNOTE ADDRESS WEDNESDAY AT ALASKA FORUM ON THE ENVIRONMENT

ANCHORAGE – Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Policy, Management and Budget Lynn Scarlett will give the keynote address at the Alaska Forum on the Environment tomorrow evening, Wednesday, February 12. Scarlett is a national expert on incentive-based environmental policies, cooperative conservation partnerships, and environmental entrepreneurship. She will be joined by Walter J. Hickel, former Alaska Governor and author of a recent book entitled Crisis in the Commons: the Alaska Solution.

The Alaska Forum on the Environment, which is meeting this week in the Egan Convention Center in Anchorage, is sponsored by more than twenty federal and state departments and agencies, conservation and Alaska Native groups, and industry. On Wednesday Scarlett also will join a talking circle with John Borbridge,Jr., a Tlingit elder and leader in protection of Native rights, and other Native elders, agency and community leaders.
