Secretary Norton Will Address Fisheries Conference Jan. 22

(WASHINGTON) - Interior Secretary Gale Norton will address some 500 delegates to the National Fisheries Leadership Conference at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, 2500 Calvert St., N. W., in Washington D.C., on Wednesday, January 22.

Norton will tell the delegates -- representing the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, states, tribes, other federal agencies and non-government conservation interests -- that the Service has created a partnership effort that can be a model for other agencies, and that the administration has "good budget news" for the Fisheries Program.

The Leadership Conference, the first of its kind in the 132-year history of the program, will see the unveiling of a StrategicVision, two years in the making and designed by Service biologists and a wide and diverse number of partners. The Strategic Vision will guide the USFWS Fisheries Program in the years ahead.
