Secretary Jewell to Announce Proposed Program for Five Year Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Leasing Program

WASHINGTON – Today, Tuesday, March 15, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will discuss the Proposed Program for the Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Leasing Program for 2017-2022. This is one step in a multi-step process to determine the size, timing and location of proposed leasing activity to best meet national energy needs, while addressing a range of economic, environmental and social considerations.

The Interior Department received more than a million comments on the Draft Proposed Program, released in January 2015. The Proposed Program will be made available for additional public comment, which the Interior Department will use to help inform the final Five-Year Program.
