DOI-ITAP organized a 2-day workshop judicial for prosecutors and judges in San Jose, Costa Rica.  This event is part of DOI-ITAP’s work supporting the Environmental Cooperation Agreement under CAFTA-DR, and it was coordinated with the Public Ministry of Costa Rica and the Central American and Dominican Republic Wildlife Enforcement Network (CAWEN, or ROAVIS in Spanish – www.roavis.net).

The workshop aimed to raise awareness of environmental and wildlife crimes and to strength the rule of law through enhanced prosecutions of wildlife crimes. The training agenda covered topics such as international agreements, international and national environmental law, wildlife investigation techniques, and a CAWEN/ROAVIS case study for working groups to resolve and discuss. The workshop had the participation of 30 judges and prosecutors.
