Museum of the Plains Indian Announces Winners of 2018 Youth Art Contest

Browning, Montana: The Museum of the Plains Indian, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Indian Arts and Crafts Board (IACB), will feature an exhibit of artwork from the 2018 Youth Art Contest sponsored by the IACB.  The exhibit will be on view from June 9 through June 29, 2018.  The annual competition provides Indian youth with a realistic juried art show experience; encourages the development and expansion of their skills in production and marketing; and enhances youth interest in culture, history, and the possibility of an artistic career.  Submissions of work were judged by an independent panel of jurors.  Awards will be distributed in the amount of $250 for first place, $150 for second place, and $100 for third place. 

The winners of the contest are as follows:

1st Place, Sacred Home-Naatoyi Ookoowa, Jazmine Spotted Bear (Blackfeet Tribe), Acrylic on Canvas











2nd Place, Ledger Art, Sarah Sure Chief (Blackfeet Tribe), Pencil and Colored Pencils on Ledger Paper










3rd Place, Galaxy, Roycelyn Yellow Owl (Blackfeet Tribe), Acrylic on Canvas
