The Office of Environmental Policy and Compliance manages the environmental compliance and auditing program through monitoring reporting from bureaus and offices on the management of their compliance audits. Environmental auditing of all Department of the Interior facilities is required by Departmental Manual Chapter, 515 DM 2, “Environmental Auditing.” In addition, 518 DM 2, “Compliance with Waste Management Requirements” addresses the commitment of the Department to comply with applicable Federal, state, and local environmental requirements. Environmental auditing is also a required component of environmental management systems (EMS) programs, 515 DM 4, “Environmental Management Systems.”
