A rugged, whitewater river flowing northward through deep canyons, the New River is among the oldest rivers on the continent. New River Gorge National River in West Virginia encompasses over 70,000 acres of land along the New River, is rich in cultural and natural history, and offers an abundance of scenic and recreational opportunities.
DOINews: Southwest Climate Science Center Welcomes Carolyn Enquist as new Deputy Director
Dr. Carolyn Enquist has joined the Southwest Climate Science Center (SW CSC) as the Center's new Deputy Director! Carolyn will work closely with the SW CSC's Director, Dr. Stephen Jackson.
Carolyn has been in the biodiversity conservation field for two decades, having worked for the USA National Phenology Network, The Wildlife Society, The Nature Conservancy, the National Park Service, the Forest Service, and the National Wildlife Federation. She has largely focused on the conservation and management implications of climate change, including the launch of the Southwest Climate Change Initiative (SWCCI), a regional collaboration focused on adaptation planning and on-the-ground action. She also has contributed to a number of national reports related to climate change impacts, vulnerability assessments, and adaptation.
