A rugged, whitewater river flowing northward through deep canyons, the New River is among the oldest rivers on the continent. New River Gorge National River in West Virginia encompasses over 70,000 acres of land along the New River, is rich in cultural and natural history, and offers an abundance of scenic and recreational opportunities.
Science enthusiasts recently gathered at Tir Na Nog in Raleigh, NC to hear scientists from the Southeast Climate Science Center speak about global climate change. Speakers at the event were graduate student Tyson Wepprich, recently named a fellow of the climate center; state climatologist Ryan Boyles; and biology professor Dr. Nick Haddad. Presentations included information on how North Carolina is adapating to climate change and the different pathways that wildlife and plant species can use to escape severe climate change.
