A rugged, whitewater river flowing northward through deep canyons, the New River is among the oldest rivers on the continent. New River Gorge National River in West Virginia encompasses over 70,000 acres of land along the New River, is rich in cultural and natural history, and offers an abundance of scenic and recreational opportunities.

Dr. Kim Winton, Director for the South Central Climate Science Center (SC CSC), and Dr. Renee McPherson, Director of Research for the SC CSC were recently interviewed by Shauna Lawyer Struby. Ms. Struby is a freelance writer that developed a cover story about climate change for the Oklahoma Gazette titled "H2OMG!". The story is intended to focus on the role and services provided by organizations such as the SC CSC that are in the state of Oklahoma. The story also includes climate change implications and how the SC CSC can help citizens and businesses adapt and/or mitigate climate change. Ms. Struby volunteers for the Oklahoma Sustainability Network, and Sustainable OKC programs.
