A rugged, whitewater river flowing northward through deep canyons, the New River is among the oldest rivers on the continent. University of Alaska Fairbanks Professor, Vladimir Romanovsky, is featured in the new Weather Channel Series, "Tipping Points". Dr. Romanovsky is a lead researcher for the AK CSC Integrated Ecosystem Model Project.
The video discusses "permafrost", frozen ground that's been preserved in a relatively undisturbed state. The video also discusses the enormous problems that may arise from melting permafrost as the Earth's temperature warms due to climate change.
