course is designed in three sections:

CSRS
- What you need to know about the special retirement system if you are a
firefighter or law enforcement official seeking coverage under the Civil
Service Retirement System
-
FERS
- What you need to know about the special retirement system if you are a
firefighter or law enforcement official seeking coverage under the Federal
Employees Retirement System
-
Personnel
- What you need to know if you are responsible for processing special
retirement actions for other employees
Although
designed to meet the needs of these groups, any Interior employee is invited to
review any or all sections of this training.
For
those of you that must know all aspects, you can complete the entire course and
receive a certificate!
There
are three ways to access the course:
-
If
you already have a DOI Custom Curriculum Library license, this course
is available in Your Enrollments page, under Online Library.
Log in to the DOIU Learning Management System (LMS) at http://www.doiu.nbc.gov/doiulms/,
select Your Enrollments, click DOI Custom Curriculum Library, and
then click the Launch button under the Online Learning Libraries section.
This will take you to your DOIU Online Learning Portal's Learning
Plan page. Click on the button "Add More Courses" select
the DOI link, the title Firefighter and Law Enforcement Special Retirement
Training.
- If you already have other online learning libraries/licenses such
as Karta, NETg, SkillSoft and/or classroom training and have not registered
for the DOI Custom Curriculum License, you have a DOIULMS account and
can go to the DOIU
Login page and enter your user ID and password. Upon login, click
on Course Catalog, View by Category, Online Learning Library. Select
the DOI Custom Curriculum Library and click Register. You may confirm
your registration by selecting the "Submit Training Choice"
and printing your confirmation page. This will take you back to Your
Enrollments, click DOI Custom Curriculum Library, and then click the
Launch button under the Online Learning Libraries section. This will
take you to your DOIU Online Learning Portal's Learning Plan page. Click
on the button "Add More Courses" select the DOI link, the
title Firefighter and Law Enforcement Special Retirement Training.
- If
you have not taken any online nor classroom training from DOI University,
you must register for a DOIU LMS account before accessing the training.
Go to the DOIU Login
and complete the online form as directed. A user ID and password will
then be assigned to you. Please print for your records. Upon login,
click on Course Catalog, View by Category, Online Learning Library.
Select the DOI Custom Curriculum Library and click Register. You may
confirm your registration by selecting the "Submit Training Choice"
and printing your confirmation page. This will take you back to Your
Enrollments, click DOI Custom Curriculum Library, and then click the
