Impacts of Secondary Covered Positions
- Previous primary/rigorous experience is
required to qualify for secondary firefighter and law enforcement officer positions.
- Applicant may have previous primary
experience and qualify for secondary position, but may not be eligible for
secondary retirement coverage if he or she does not meet transfer
requirements.
- The maximum entry age requirement does not
apply to secondary positions.
- Employees covered under FF/LEO special
retirement in secondary positions are subject
to MANDATORY SEPARATION.
- Employees in secondary positions, but not
eligible for FF/LEO special retirement coverage are NOT subject to mandatory
separation.
20 years covered/creditable service and
- age 57 for firefighter and aw enforcement officer
positions
