Dr. Henry Huntington (Arctic Science Director for Ocean Conservancy; independent researcher in human-environment interactions in the Arctic; and the Editor in Chief of the Journal Weather, Climate, and Society)

Dr. Todd Brinkman (Associate Professor of Wildlife Ecology, Chair, Wildlife Program Institute of Arctic Biology and Dept. Of Biology and Wildlife, University of Alaska Fairbanks)

In recent years, Council members have expressed growing concerns about food security in the context of climate change and diminished populations of key species such as salmon and caribou. Additional factors such as high fuel costs and harvest restrictions add to the impacts of these changes. Following a brief introduction to the regulatory adaptations that the Federal Subsistence Management Program can offer, this session will take the form of a guided discussion circle. Participants will be encouraged to share adaptations such as sharing networks that are working for communities, engage in shared problem solving, and identify potential actions to address ongoing challenges.
