In March
2005,
the
Office
of
Management
and
Budget
(OMB)
renewed
DOI's
Programmatic
Clearance
for
conducting
Customer
Satisfaction
Surveys
across
the
Department.
The
Programmatic
Clearance,
also
known
as
a
Generic
Clearance,
enables
all
DOI
bureaus
and
Offices
of
the
Secretary,
to
use
an
expedited
process
for
obtaining
approval
from
the
OMB
under
the
Paperwork
Reduction
Act
(PRA)
to
deploy
an
information
collection
instrument
(including
surveys,
questionnaires,
telephone
interviews)
for
the
purpose
of
collecting
customer
satisfaction
information.
All
requests
to
use
the
Generic
Clearance
must
be
consistent
with
Interior's
OMB-approved
Generic
Clearance
Plan.
The
expedited
process
significantly
reduces
the
amount
of time
needed
for
the
Department
and
OMB
to approve
an information
collection
instrument
from
more
than
120
days
to about
45 days.
More
information
about the
Department's
Generic
Clearance
for Customer
Satisfaction
can be
obtained
through
this site.
Specific
forms must
be completed
to access
the Generic
Clearance
package.
