FY 2023 Grants totaling $1,608,516 from Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs to Support Financial Management in the Northern Mariana Islands

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of the Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs has announced $1,608,516 in fiscal year 2023 (FY23) Technical Assistance Program grant funding that will help address financial management concerns and support the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI).

“Governor Palacios has indicated the urgent need for the CNMI government to address financial management issues in the territory,” said Assistant Secretary for Insular and International Affairs Carmen G. Cantor. “I am pleased that we can provide some relevant and urgently needed support in the areas of financial records management, financial management system implementation, and public auditor training.” 

Technical Assistance Program grant awards totaling $1,608,516 will be awarded to the territorial government as follows:  

  • $885,000 for Single Audit Technical Assistance, Financial Management Implementation System implementation, and general financial records management;
  • $526,799 for implementation and training under the Revenue Management Information System; and
  • $196,717 to the Office of the Public Auditor.
