Washington, D.C. – The Department of the Interior's (DOI) Insular Assistant Secretary Tony Babauta signed a $900,000 grant to repair the Mon Bijou Collection System on St. Croix.  The project will replace 3,000 linear feet of concrete and ductile pipe which will help prevent flooding and reduce public health risks for residents served by the Mon Bijou System.

"For some time, the U.S. Virgin Islands has been under a consent order to improve its wastewater system and I am pleased to have funding in our Water and Wastewater program to assist Governor John deJongh address these needed improvements," said Mr. Babauta.  "I am also grateful to be able to work closely with Congresswoman Donna Christensen who ensured that funding for the Water and Wastewater program was increased to ensure this project for St. Croix moved forward."
