New School Opens In American Samoa

American Samoa - On Friday, August 7, two two-storey classroom buildings were dedicated at the Manulele Elementary School campus in American Samoa. The first building has eight classrooms and the second building has ten classrooms. Both buildings were funded with a $1,823,250 million grant from the Department of the Interior Office of Insular Affairs Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The Department of Education Director Dr. Claire Poumele, Lieutenant Governor Faoa Sunia, several lawmakers and several government leaders attended a brief opening ceremony. The buildings were completed just in time for opening day of the new school year, August 10, 2009.
