43 CFR 11.14(tt)
"Type B assessment means alternative methodologies for conducting assessments in individual cases to determine the type and extent of short and long term injury and damages, as specified in section 301(c)(2)(B) of CERCLA."
Type B Assessments involve development and implementation of specific scientific studies to document and quantify injury. These assessments must establish a pathway link to document that injury was caused by the release or discharge in question. Injury and associated baseline services are quantified. A restoration action is selected from a range of alternatives which serves as the basis for calculation of damages.
