DOI employees are paid biweekly on Tuesdays. The calendar displays the payday, end of pay period, and federal holidays for the entire year. You may access the pay calendar here:
Your salary (series, grade, and step) was discussed and agreed to upon your acceptance of employment. To view your current salary and other salaries, see the salary table at http://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/pay-leave/salaries-wages/#url=2012. There you will be able to view the General Schedule (GS), Senior Executive Service (SES), and other pay programs available in the Federal Government.
The Flexible Spending Account (FSA) is an account where you contribute money from your salary before taxes are withheld. You will then get reimbursed for your out-of-pocket health care and dependent care expenses. If you are interested in this benefit, you need to enroll within 60 days of your hire date. All employees can enroll, re-enroll, or remove themselves from this benefit during Open Season. Transit subsidy is a program offered to DOI employees to subsidize their commuting expenses. A standard monthly allowance is given to employees. The amount is contingent upon how many days you travel to work, where your home is, and the mode of transportation used. Go to the Forms and Training sections to complete the forms and training if you would like to participate.
Employee Express is an online system used by the Federal Government that enables employees to access their payroll information. Employees are able to view their LESstatement, update and change direct deposit information and allotments, view/print W-2s, update Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), change their address, and perform many other options. Once you begin employment, Employee Express will send your username and password to your home address at which time you can access the system at https://www.employeeexpress.gov.
Federal Employee Health Benefits(FEHB)
As a new employee, you are eligible to enroll in our Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) Program. This program includes: health, dental, vision, flexible spending account, life insurance, long term care, and other benefits. You will have 60 days to enroll in the FEHB program. There are a variety of plans that you may choose from that will best fit you and your family’s needs. After the 60-day window has passed, the only other time an employee is able to enroll is during open season or if a Qualifying Life Event (QLE) has occurred.
