Deployments--Location Nodes the Hard Way

If you don't have a CSV file of location data, you will need to enter the data manually as described below. Otherwise, you can just import from the file.

On DEAR's menu bar, select "Dictionary/New Definition".

Introduction Tab  Introduction

The Introduction tab has only one field; the Description box shown below. Write a short description of the location there.

Intro Tab

Access Data Tab  Access Data

The Access Data tab has read-only information; you don’t have to fill in anything on it.

Node Type  Node Type

Enter the type of node; whether it is a building, a city, or something inbetween.

Address

Enter the street, city, and state address information.

Participating Organization  Participating Organization

Click on the Choices button to drag and drop names of organizations that would have hardware or software in this location. For instance, for an NBC location that hosts equipment for other organizations, you would list those organizations here. The buttons in the Participating Organizations box are standard buttons, used similarly in many windows in DEAR.

OK  OK

Click "OK" when you are done with all the tabs.

Where you go next

You are now ready to enter the server information, from a CSV file or manually.
