- Line of business (LOB)
- A defined task, such as fighting wildfires. Lines of business are easiest to manage when contained in one organization. In the government, lines of business often cross organizational lines. For instance, within Interior, NPS, BLM, and BOR all have a firefighting line of business, and outside Interior, so does USDA's Forest Service. Over 50 lines of business have been identified in the DOI.

- A piece of a business function; similar level to ABC work activities
- System Architecture
- Structure of systems and their building blocks
- TAA
- Target Application Architecture; A guidance document for making tactical and strategic decisions on what to do with outdated and expensive IT systems
