THIS WEEK… AT INTERIOR…
So happy to have you back.
Glad to be here, thank you.
WITH THE SIXTEEN DAY GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN OVER, DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR EMPLOYEES ACROSS THE NATION BEGAN RETURNING TO WORK THIS WEEK… FROM NATIONAL PARKS, WILDLIFE REFUGES AND PUBLIC LANDS, ENERGY BUREAUS, AND BIA OFFICES COAST TO COAST.
IN WASHINGTON D-C, SECRETARY SALLY JEWELL GREETED RETURNING EMPLOYEES AT INTERIOR’S FRONT DOOR… SHE ALSO SENT OUT A VIDEO MESSAGE TO INTERIOR’S 70,000 EMPLOYEES, MOST OF WHOM ARE RETURNING TO THEIR WORKPLACES FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MORE THAN TWO WEEKS.
You know, if there’s one silver lining in this shutdown, it is that the value that you bring to this country and to the American people is far more evident now that it was before the shutdown. So I hope that when you come back, you come back with pride, you come back with enthusiasm…I appreciate that the uncertainty was very hard on you and very hard on your families. And I am just so happy that we are all back at work.
PARKS, REFUGES & OTHER PUBLIC LANDS ARE BEING REOPENED AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. PLEASE CONFIRM THE LANDS YOU WANT TO VISIT ARE OPEN.
THAT’S THIS WEEK, AT INTERIOR.
