WASHINGTON, DC – Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar today announced that Adam Fetcher will join his communications team as Press Secretary for the U.S. Department of the Interior. Since 2009, Fetcher has served in the public affairs office of the Department of Homeland Security, most recently as Assistant Press Secretary.

“With his experience at the Department of Homeland Security and his strong writing and communication skills, Adam Fetcher will be a terrific addition to our communications team,” said Secretary Salazar.

A graduate of Carleton College, Fetcher was a staff writer with a Minnesota newspaper and worked in marketing at a New York City non-profit before joining the Obama for America campaign in 2008 in Florida. After working on the Obama-Biden Presidential Transition team, he joined the Department of Homeland Security, where he has coordinated communications for Secretary Napolitano and other senior DHS officials on a wide range of issues, including counterterrorism, law enforcement, immigration, border security, and disaster response.

Fetcher joins Deputy Chief of Staff and Communications Director Matt Lee-Ashley, Deputy Director of Communications Kate Kelly, Deputy Press Secretary Jordan Montoya, and New Media Director Tim Fullerton and career public affairs staff in Interior's Office of Communications.
