Secretary Salazar and Atlantic State Leaders Announce Major Offshore Wind Initiative


November 24, 2010

Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar launched a "Smart from the Start" wind energy initiative for the Atlantic Outer Continental Shelf. The initiative will facilitate siting, leasing and construction of new projects, spurring the rapid and responsible development of this abundant renewable resource. The launch event was held at Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Md. on Nov. 23rd. Secretary Salazar was joined by state government leaders and Jim Lanard, president of the Offshore Wind Development Coalition.
