Secretary Salazar to Meet with Spanish Energy Industry Leaders, Participate in U.S.-Spain Council

OVIEDO, SPAIN – Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar today will hold a news media teleconference, along with U.S. Ambassador to Spain Alan D. Solomont, to discuss his trip to Spain, including his meetings with leaders of Spain’s renewable and conventional energy industries.
Secretary Salazar is in Spain to participate in the U.S.-Spain Council Business Forum and to strengthen ties between the two countries, particularly in the areas of renewable energy development. As part of his visit, Salazar will hold a roundtable meeting with renewable energy executives and will visit a solar power tower site built by Abengoa Solar, Inc.
Secretary Salazar will also meet with representatives from Repsol, the Spanish national oil and gas company, as part of Interior’s ongoing effort to engage industry and the international community in a dialogue on safe and responsible offshore oil and gas development.
