Salazar to Announce Record Investments for Rural Communities

WASHINGTON – On Thursday, June 14, 2012, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar will hold a news media teleconference to announce the Department of the Interior’s record investments for rural communities across the nation under the 2012 Payments in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) program. More than 1,850 local governments are receiving the largest amount ever distributed under the program to help fund vital government services, such as public safety, housing, social services and transportation.
