Dr. Marcia McNutt to Provide Status Update on Flow Rate Technical Group’s Scientific Efforts to Measure the Flow from BP Oil Spill

TODAY, Thursday, June 10, 2010, at 4:45 pm EDT, Dr. Marcia McNutt, the Director of the U.S. Geological Survey and Chair of the National Incident Command’s Flow Rate Technical Group, will discuss the status of the work of several scientific teams that are using various methodologies to estimate the amount of oil that is leaking from BP’s well into the Gulf of Mexico. Working together with Energy Secretary Steven Chu and scientists from the Department of Energy, Dr. McNutt expects that the Flow Rate Technical Group will have an updated flow rate estimate in the coming days that brings together new data from the well and analysis from several scientific methodologies.
