Secretary Kempthorne to Announce Revised Final Draft of National Park Service Management Policies

WASHINGTONOn Monday, June 19, 2006, Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne will announce the release of the National Park Service's revised final draft of the 2006 Management Policies for a review by NPS employees. The event will take place at 11:30 a.m. on the Roof Terrace of the Main Interior Building, which overlooks the Washington Monument and Jefferson Memorial. Audio conference call access also will be available for media unable to attend.

The Secretary will be joined by Rep. Steve Pearce (R-N.M.); NPS Director Fran Mainella; Tom Kiernan, president, National Parks Conservation Association; and Frank Hugelmeyer, president of the Outdoor Industry Association. Also scheduled to attend are Douglas P. Wheeler, chairman of the National Park System Advisory Board, and Gene Sykes, chairman and director of the National Parks Conservation Association's Board of Trustees.
