WASHINGTON - On Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, Interior Secretary Gale Norton and Quinault Indian Nation President Pearl Capoeman-Baller will sign an agreement to preserve more than 4,000 acres of forest habitat for the endangered marbled murrelet. Representatives of the U.S. Department of Justice and the Trust for Public Land also will sign the settlement. Under the agreement, Interior will purchase conservation easements on Quinault timberlands on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state.
