Secretary Salazar to Hold Clean Energy Economy Forum on Renewable Energy, Job Creation, and Climate Impact and Adaptation

WASHINGTON – On Monday, November 2, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar will host a Clean Energy Economy Forum with stakeholders from 39 States across the country at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. Deputy Secretary David Hayes and other top Department of Interior officials will be featured speakers at the forum, which will include a focus on the importance of renewable energy and job creation on public lands, climate impact and adaptation, and efforts to support and maintain the treasured landscapes of America in the emerging clean energy economy.

The Clean Energy Economy Forum will also be an opportunity for stakeholders from a broad-based network of organizations and institutions – including sportsmen and women, business leaders, environmentalists, and Indian country to name a few – to hear from, share ideas with, and ask questions of top Administration officials and leadership at the Department of the Interior about the need for a comprehensive energy plan that reduces our dependence on foreign oil, creates jobs, and reduces the pollution that causes climate change.

During a noon break in the forum, Secretary Salazar will be joined by stakeholders and Department officials for a media availability at the stakeout location outside the West Wing.

The forum will be webcast live at www.whitehouse.gov/live and will be open to the public through Facebook, where an innovative White House application will allow the public to watch and discuss the event live. The White House will be monitoring the chat, taking questions, and incorporating feedback from chat participants during the event.
