Take Pride in America® joins Bureau of Land Management and Roseburg Volunteers for Umpqua River Cleanup

(Roseburg, Oregon) - Take Pride in America today joined with the Bureau of Land Management, local Roseburg volunteers, and students from Fremont Jr. High and Riddle Education Center, for a cleanup of the Umpqua River, at the Tyee Recreation Site.  The volunteer cleanup was the third stop on Take Pride’s “VolunTour Across America.”

Volunteers and students at the event spread out and picked up trash and refuse up and down the river, dramatically improving the quality of the banks and water around the Tyee Recreation Site.

“Today’s efforts show the combined power of volunteers joining together to accomplish something great, we were especially excited to have two of our Take Pride Schools involved in the days events” said Heather Roebke, Executive Director, Take Pride in America.  “Rivers like this are national treasures, and it’s crucial that we not only maintain them, but improve them for future generations.  The volunteers involved in today’s event serve as selfless examples of how each individual can make a difference in their community.”

The “VolunTour Across America” is being held in conjunction with Toyota, and is a nationwide trip promoting volunteerism on public lands.
