San Francisco, California – This weekend, Take Pride in America will join with the National Park Service and several hundred Bay area volunteers, for a cleanup of Baker beach. The event is part of National Public Lands Day (NPLD), and is the kickoff event for Take Pride’s “VolunTour Across America.”
“Take Pride is proud to kick start its VolunTour in San Francisco,” said Heather Roebke, Executive Director, Take Pride in America. “National Public Lands Day is a day to celebrate the beauty of America’s lands, and to commit to improving them for future generations. We look forward to joining forces with local volunteers as we promote our shared spirit of volunteerism.”
In support of NPLD, all National Park Service sites will have free admission on September 29. NPLD is the only day that all national parks waive their entrance fees.
The “VolunTour Across America” is being held in conjunction with Toyota, and Baker Beach is the first event of the nationwide tour, in a Take Pride Toyota Prius. Event sponsors for the day are: the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, the National Park Service, and the Presidio Trust.
