1. Claims Processing. Assist employees complete CA-1 and CA-2 forms and ensure forms are sent to Workers' Compensation. Answer questions and check on the status of individual claims.
2. Active Case Management. Follow-up with injured employee and attending physician in all cases involving medical costs or lost-time injuries. Weekly status reports will be provided to the employee's supervisor. The estimated return to duty date as well as duty restrictions will also be provided to the supervisor. By aggressively managing new injury cases agencies should see reductions in continuation of pay (COP) and workhours lost.
3. Periodic Case Reviews. Review at least 25% of the cases on the OWCP periodic rolls annually. The purpose of the review is to update the status of the claimant and determine whether a return to duty assignment is possible. After each review a written report will be sent to the Personnel office.
4. Reemployment. Coordinate with the employee, attending physician, supervisor and personnel office to identify light/limited duty positions to reemploy recovered or recovering employees as soon as medically possible.
5. Investigations. Assist the safety officer with the investigation of injury claims. The focus of the SEES investigation will be to ensure the injury is consistent with the medical injuries. An active investigation program will reduce fraud and deliberate misuse of workers' compensation benefits. AS appropriate assist in the controversion of claims.
6. Quarterly Review and Analysis. Prepare on a quarterly basis utilizing the DOL chargeback reports an evaluation of the agency's performance.
