“Keeping an Eye on US Ocean Policy”
Monday July 18, 2011, 12-1:30 PM
Honorable William Ruckelshaus
Honorable Norman Mineta
The members of the Joint Ocean Commission Initiative have been working for more than ten years to identify the successes and challenges of governmental responses to the recommendations of the US Commission on Ocean Policy and the Pew Oceans Commission. The Initiative’s latest report focuses special attention on the National Policy for the Stewardship of the Ocean, Our Coasts, and the Great Lakes, an action called for by both of these commissions and championed by the Joint Initiative. The Joint Initiative co-chairs, the Honorable William Ruckelshaus and the Honorable Norman Mineta will share the major findings of this report and offer recommendations to the Federal, State, and local government officials, policy experts, and ocean and coastal stakeholders in attendance. The JOCI members will present the Marc Hershman award.
