Clean Audit Opinions
The Interior Business Center received recognition for its contributions to customers receiving clean audit opinions. Recently, the Office of Special Council’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) congratulated IBC’s financial management staff on their outstanding work to ensure a clean opinion for the FY 2013 audit. IBC was also commended for its contributions to the Department of the Interior’s (DOI) 17th consecutive clean audit opinion and for the support to DOI’s Deputy CFO and the Office of Financial Management to be one of the first organizations to submit the required FY 2013 Agency Financial Report to OMB (tied with NASA). New Deputy Director for IBC's Human Resources
Julie Bednar is the new Deputy Associate Director for the Interior Business Center's Human Resources Directorate. Julie works directly with IBC's HRD Associate Director, LC Williams, and is also a member of IBC's Senior Leadership Team. Read More >
To support its customers in the migration to the next generation of the federal government’s web-based travel management services, the Interior Business Center (IBC) recently hosted a day of demos in Washington, D.C. The two GSA awarded eTravel vendors, Carlson Wagonlit Sato Travel and Concur Technologies, provided demonstrations of their electronic travel systems second award/phase (ETS2) to current and potential eTravel clients. The Interior Business Center will host its first annual technology showcase on April 10, 2014 at the Main Interior Building, in Washington, D.C. The purpose of the event is to share information about new and emerging technologies with potential to help DOI bureaus and offices meet their missions more efficiently and effectively. Read more >

IBC Makes Acquisitions Easier
The Interior Business Center has been reaching out to its acquisition customers and contracting officer representatives (CORs) to provide references, training, and resources to enable them to better understand their roles in the acquisitions process. IBC’s Acquisition Services Directorate (AQD) provides acquisitions services in a shared service environment. Read more >
The Interior Business Center was the only federal shared services payroll provider able to provide off-cycle payments for retroactive pay for furloughed hours reported for October 1-5, 2013. Off-cycle payments are payroll payments issued other than on the normal biweekly payroll cycle. This off-cycle payroll process generated partial payments to 174,994 employees of the Department of the Interior, including IBC, and 22 of IBC's other customer agencies.
