Interior Business Center Selects GP Strategies Corporation
as its Talent Management System Provider

New System Will Benefit Employees and Supervisors at the Department of the Interior and other federal departments and agencies served by IBC

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Interior Business Center (IBC) has selected GP Strategies Corporation as its provider of a new Talent Management System that will be used not only by the Department of the Interior but also by other federal agencies that IBC serves as a federal Shared Services Provider with a customer base of  more than 150 agencies and offices.

The contract, awarded on June 27, 2013, calls for GP Strategies to provide a system that integrates the management of employee performance with the management of employee development–referred to as a Talent Management System. Maximum contract value for the base year and four option years is $25 million. The new system will result in cost savings for IBC customers.

IBC's new Talent Management System services will integrate management of occupational competencies, employee performance, individual development plans and training solutions.  The system will include performance metrics so that IBC can periodically evaluate system performance and make adjustments where necessary. IBC will assist clients in migrating to the new system.

"The Interior Business Center takes pride in our high-quality, efficient and transparent business management services for the Department of the Interior and other government agencies," says IBC director Joe Ward.  "We help our customers focus on their core missions while we provide business solutions."

The integrated system promises to improve the effectiveness of performance and learning management at Interior, as well as at other customer agencies served by IBC, by bringing employee performance and learning information together into one view. In addition, customer agencies save costs through IBC's economies of scale and by taking advantage of its expertise in implementing systems in the federal government.

The selection of GP Strategies was made through an open "request for proposal" process, as prescribed by Federal Acquisition Regulation. GP Strategies Corporation (formerly known as General Physics Corporation) is the largest implementer of talent management solutions and has been approved by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management for federal "Cloud" services.

Located within the Department of the Interior, the Interior Business Center (formerly the National Business Center) is a federal Shared Services Provider.  The IBC  provides a variety of services for its more than 150 government customers. For example, IBC is the payroll provider for Interior and 41 other agencies, including the Social Security Administration, the Federal Aviation Administration, NASA, and the Department of Education.
