| For her drawings, Emerson
employs various mediums including pen and ink, charcoal,
graphite, pastel, and conte. Paintings are limited to
either acrylic or oil. Although she paints skillfully
in primarily low key and revering touches of red, Emerson
considers herself foremost a draftsman. Her subjects
range from the human figure, which she has studied extensively,
to portraits, to semi-abstractions of “mixed metaphors”
that are at once organic and symbolic.
