Jon Cadote, PAINTINGS
January 9 – February 22, 2005
Jon Cadotte’s paintings have an exclusive quality embodying his Blackfeet tribal heritage and his involvement in the religion and
ceremonies of his people. John was born in Browning, Montana, attending the public schools in Browning and graduating from
Hemawa High School in 1982. Cadotte gives credit to his high school art teacher who was a large influence on his art, along
with his grandfather Joe Cadotte who created art and encouraged him at an early age.
Cadotte’s paintings have a profound effect on the viewer. The flowing lines in his paintings evoke an endless quality, where
color represents the sunrise, sunset, and landscape. Various shades of blues and purple show depth and distance, giving his
work a surreal influence similar to many Southwestern artists.
