JOHN WEBBER, PAINTINGS
JULY 18 - SEPTEMBER 24, 2004
Webber is entirely self-taught and creates mostly acrylic
paintings, oil paintings, and pen and ink drawings,
in addition to carvings from wood and stone. His art
reflects his view on contemporary life as a member of
the Blackfeet Nation, as well as the lifestyle of ancestral
Blackfeet in the 1800’s. One theme found in Webber’s
work is the visualization of his nomadic ancestors stealing
horses and sleeping in tipis in the early part of the
century.
