n Labor-Management Partnerships

Executive Order 12871, "Labor Management Partnerships," established the National Partnership Council, an interagency body whose objective is to promote labor-management partnership.

The Executive Order also required agencies to establish partnerships at appropriate levels. In response, the Department of the Interior established the DOI Labor Management Partnership Council in 1994. The DPC is comprised of key DOI officials and representatives from the two unions that hold national consultation rights with DOI, AFGE and NFFE.

The DPC's charter is to implement the Presidential mandate for improved labor relations in DOI and to ensure a working environment that respects and values employees. The DPC seeks to address labor-management issues of broad scope and to provide local partnerships with guidance and assistance. The DPC meets quarterly and applies partnership principles in conducting business.
