| In order to protect the DOI financial interest,
and to ensure only deserving claimants are paid, the Servicing Personnel Office (SPO) has
the right to appeal any State determination of benefit rights if it appears to be based on
information contrary to the findings reported by the SPO, or if it is based on improper
inferences from those findings. |

If an employee is terminated for cause or
voluntarily resigns, a supervisor may be asked to provide written documentation for
contesting the claim. The supervisor may even be asked to attend an appeal hearing when
your participation is necessary to protect the organization's interest. |
