Reminder . . . .

  • Agencies in the Washington, DC, area are reminded that they should follow the "Washington, DC, Area Emergency Dismissal or Closure Procedures" for the September 11th closure of the Federal Government as a result of the attacks on America.

  • In summary, emergency employees were expected to remain at work or report for work on time. Nonemergency employees who were on duty on September 11 and who were dismissed early should be excused from work for the remainder of the workday. Employees who were absent on previously approved leave should be charged leave for the entire workday. Because of the unusual circumstances of yesterday’s events, nonemergency employees who were prevented from reporting for work may be granted excused absence for the entire workday. Employees who left work before being dismissed by their agencies should be charged leave for the remainder of the workday unless the agency determines that excused absence is appropriate because of unusual circumstances or hardships specific to the employee. Exceptions to these policies should be made only in unusual cases.
