Knockout palettes of red and gold. More birds in flight than you've ever seen. Crisp fall air and the crunch of dried leaves underfoot. Prepare for a delicious assault on your senses this season at national wildlife refuges.

Then add a host of fun activities for you and your friends or family: Migration festivals. River paddles. Bird hikes and photo tours. Refuges have something for everyone, even if you prefer solitary walks or a favorite fishing hole.

National Wildlife Refuge Week, Oct. 12-18, is a great time to visit and learn what refuges have for you. It's your nature. Enjoy it.
