The Office of the Law Revision Counsel of the U.S. House of Representatives prepares and publishes the United States Code (U.S.C.).  Title 44 U.S.C. is a consolidation and codification of the general and permanent laws relating to public printing and documents.  Title 44 U.S.C., as currently published by the U.S. Government, reflects the laws passed by the Congress as of January 2, 2006.

While this volume contains no substantive changes to existing regulations, it does provide updated listings of U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) regional procurement offices and satellites, an includes copies of circular letters of general applicability that have been issued to Departmental administrators since the issuance of the last edition.  The Government Printing and Binding Regulations, as currently published by the U.S. Government, was transmitted by the Joint Committee on Printing effective February 1990.

The Printing Procurement Regulation is issued to 1) prescribe uniform policies and procedures for the procurement of printing, binding, and related services and, 2) provide guidance to Printing Procurement Department personnel in applying those policies and procedures.  The Printing Procurement Regulation, as currently published by the U.S. Government, was issued by the Deputy Public Printer effective May 1, 1999.

The Guidelines for Agency Representatives Attending Press Sheet Inspections lists suggested administrative and technical guidelines for agency personnel attending U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) press sheet inspections, which are very important in obtaining quality publications.  The Guidelines for Agency Representatives Attending Press Sheet Inspections was published by the U.S. Government effective September 1991.

The U.S. Government Printing Office's (GPO) Quality Control and Inventory Management Department conducts sampling, inspection, and testing to assure that purchased printing papers and materials comply with specifications.  Also included among this Department's many responsibilities is the continual improvement of the Joint Committee on Printing (JCP) specifications for paper.  Volume No. 12 of the Government Paper Specification Standards was published by the U.S. Government effective February 1, 2008.
