SC CSC Works with Tribes on Environmental Initiatives this Spring!
17th Annual Tribal Environmental Summit in Dallas, TX on March 26-28, 2014
The EPA Region 6 hosts an annual tribal environmental summit for tribal representatives to obtain a first hand view of various products and training materials that are necessary to enhance their environmental programs. April Taylor, Sustainability Scientist for the SC CSC, will be attending the summit.
2014 “To Bridge A Gap” Meeting in Fayetteville, AR on April 7-10, 2014
The Eastern Shawnee Tribe will be hosting the conference in collaboration with the National Forest Service. This conference is designed to strengthen Government to Government relationships between federal/state agencies and federally recognized tribes with interests in our forests. April Taylor will be presenting on a developing “Natural and Cultural Resources Committee”.
The Chickasaw Nation Native Explorers in Norman, OK on March 29, 2014
The Chickasaw Nation Native Explorers group includes up to 89 native students from Ada and Ardmore, OK that are interested in science. The South Central Climate Science Center will host the Chickasaw Nation Native Explorers group for a day of tours of the National Weather Center and a few hands on activities including: Geotagging Photos to Monitor Climate Changes and Satellite Imagery to Monitor Climate Change.
